Friday links and notes

A couple of links from New York Wrestling News…

New York Wrestling News came out with new state weight class rankings today, with all six healthy all-state wrestlers from Section 1 — Ossining’s Alex Delacruz, Pearl River’s John Muldoon, John Jay-EF’s Brett Perry, Tappan Zee’s Mike Manni and North Rockland’s Matt Caputo and Blaise Benderoth — plus Arlington’s Alfredo Olmedo getting ranked in their respective classes. With the top seven wrestlers in the state from each weight class being ranked, they also noted that New Rochelle’s Nick Barbaria dropped out of the rankings due to injury. For the most part, I think that the most deserving Section 1 wrestlers were included. In the notes, Byram Hills’ Jon Errico, Arlington’s Nick Tolli, Beacon’s Andrew Grella and TZ’s John Hartnett are also mentioned. I’ll be coming out with my new LoHud Weight Class Rankings next week.

New York Wrestling News also released a preview for the Union-Endicott Dual Meet tournament, which is about as close as you’ll come to finding a state dual meet championship. As I wrote yesterday, this tourney will feature the top three teams from NYS last season, and North Rockland will be there representing for Section 1.

Are caputo and benderoth for sure dropping to 138 and 145 instead of staying at 145 and 152?

They told me that they’re staying put, which means Caputo at 145 and Benderoth at 152. That’s where I’m going to rank them.
