Shoreline seeds

I hope that everyone finds themselves in some place safe and warm as we wait for what is expected to be a pretty significant snow storm. The weather is supposed to clear up by Friday afternoon, so the 50th annual Shoreline Invitational should be on schedule for Saturday. I’ll have more information on the weekend tournaments tomorrow, but I do have the Shoreline seeds that I just received from New Rochelle coach Eddie Ortiz.

As you’ll see, some of these weight classes are absolutely loaded — particularly 132, which features a total of four defending section champs. Pearl River senior John Muldoon (pictured above) comes in as the top seed, but he’ll have to really earn it to come up with the title. The semis and the finals should be electric.

In the weight classes where there were enough qualified wrestlers, they were able to seed a full eight. But in others, they seeded fewer than that. The seeds also included each wrestler’s current record, as well as where those who placed finished in their respective sections last season.

  1. Rockland on the Rise on

Now we got something to talk about. I guess Fay might go 101 (103 @ Shoreline)for sections even though there is no one at 106. Finals @ 113 should be fun. 132 semis are a must see. Delacruz should have know problem. If you never saw Aeberli @ 145 he is fun to watch. He is only a sophomore but has strength, speed, and skills. Good luck to all the wrestlers. Vince could you please list all the schools that are invited.

  2. Vince,

What criteria do they use for seeding at this tournament ? They seem to be all over the place

  3. From what I understand, the seeding is pretty straight forward. Last years States, Last years Sectional 1-2 (Big School), Last years Shoreline 1-2, Sectional 3-4, Shoreline 3-4, small school sectionals 1-2, etc…

record is the last thing considered and they dont use power points

  4. With the weather starting to clear up so are some of the weight classes

99 Fay and almedo. Wow 2 99lb seniors
    106 ??? Wide open
    113 albis, kelly, robin
    120 Errico and grippi
    126 de la
    132 Muldoon and tolli
    138 caputo and erickson
145 ettlinger, surace, Murphy, I think courtien come up here too
    152 benderoth and Marvin
    160 Klein, hofling, gullo
    170 geiolli and Karas
    182 perry
    195 grella
    220 hartnett
    285 manni

Huge favorites from 182 and up.

    106, 113, 145, 160, 170 are weights that anyone could win

99, 120, 132, 138, 152 look like amazing finals, thank god for Wildcards or we wouldn’t see these matchups at sectionals a decade ago.

Shoreline will make 120 and 160 much clearer. Although 120 will still be 2 guys and 160 will give us a pecking order of the top 3. Looking forward to the shoreline!
