Regular season begins Wednesday; light week for duals

Wednesday is the first official day of the 2013-14 regular season, but the action won’t really pick up until the weekend. There are only a few dual meets scheduled for this week, and I’ll be heading out to catch a couple of them.

There are two duals scheduled for Wednesday — Pawling will host Croton-Harmon in D2 showdown, while Iona Prep will visit Mahopac in public vs. private school matchup. Both duals begin at 4:30 p.m., and my plan is to cover Iona-Mahopac. For live updates and full coverage, follow me on Twitter @vzmercogliano.

Three teams will be hosting tournaments on Saturday — Horace Greeley, Mamaroneck and Rye — and I’ll provide info on each later in the week. My plan will be to cover the Greeley duals, and I’ll also hit another dual on either Thursday or Friday. On top of that, I was told that I should be receiving the official weight class certifications within the next day or two, so I’ll be taking a crack at some preseason rankings before the weekend. I hope you guys have been enjoying all of the preseason coverage, but the really fun stuff is only just beginning…
