College update from Iowa Style Wrestling: Week 18

Here is this week’s press release from ISW:

D3 NCAA National Championships
Joey Grippi (Fox Lane HS) of Springfield started off strong beating his first two opponents to make it to the semifinals at 141 lbs. Grippi then lost his next three matches and took sixth place, improving on his finish from last year.
Derrick Longo (Ardsley HS) of Springfield after losing his first match won in the wrestlebacks at 165 lbs. Longo however did not place.

NCWA National Championships
Mike Ahearn (Yorktown HS), who wrestles for The University of South Carolina, came in as the No. 1 seed and pinned his first two opponents to make it to the quarters. After losing in the quarters, Ahearn was seriously injured and had to injury default while being just one round away from placing at 165 lbs.
