It wasn’t quite clear who the favorite would be at 170 pounds in Division 1 to begin the season, but as the season progressed, it became apparent who the leader of the pack was. John Jay-EF’s Brett Perry made some major strides from last season to claim front-runner status this season, and he finished the job with a 6-2 decision over Sleepy Hollow’s Adam Hofling in the finals on Monday. Perry joins teammate Dale White (160) as two Patriots that will be heading to Albany.
Weight class: 170 in D1
How many years have you been wrestling for? Five years.
Is this your first section title? Yes.
Describe what was going through your head when the referee raised your hand after the finals: My hard work has paid off and it feels great to have accomplished one of my goals.
What was the most difficult obstacle that you had to overcome this season? My teammate Dale White and I have been practice partners for the past two seasons, so it was difficult to break my routine and not have him to wrestle with. However, my teammate Luke Minasi helped pushed me in practice.
What area do you feel that you’ve improved in the most over the course of the season? On my feet, both defensively and offensively.
What are some of your favorite things to do outside of wrestling? Play lacrosse, hangout with my friends and play Fifa.
What is playing in your headphones while you get ready for a match? I don’t usually listen to music before my matches.
What is your favorite TV show? Shameless, House of Lies and The Walking Dead.
Name one thing that’s interesting about you that people may not know about: That one of my coaches is my brother and I’m the third one in my family to win a section title.

Not sure who published this but it was not to be released to the public until after 5PM today. These are still subject to change until then.
Matburn.com has it posted. They will be official at 5pm apparently.
you can post whatever you want, its just not official, people should know that anyway. If you’re on the unofficial list your coach should have contacted you and told you that you are on but its not official til 5. whats the problem
Itsn ot a problem until someone who thinks they have a wildcard ends up not getting one on the final list.
Buckeye, you are correct. And guess what someone on that list isn’t a wildcard after appeals. Wait till 5pm when the list becomes official, imagine being a wrestler or parent of a child who thinks they are going to states and finds out they aren’t. Crappy that a club coach from section 2 released the info when specifically told not to.
if you’re an A4 and you dont think you have a shot at getting bumped…as they say ’ you aint too bright ‘
