New Rochelle’s Nick Barbaria worked his way through a deep field at 106 pounds on Monday to claim his second consecutive Division 1 section championship with a 6-3 decision over Byram Hills’ Jon Errico. After winning a title at the Eastern States Classic in January, Barbaria is now viewed as one of the favorites for a state title. If he can get it done, he’ll be a prime candidate for The Journal News Westchester/Putnam player of the year honors.

congrats to Blaise some good kids trying to get in at 120. D’Angelo, Orefice, and Delacruz is a pretty solid group of wild cards.
126 is even crazier. Got guys running from Dylan while on the Island you have what I would call a seeding mess!! Corey Jamison as the 8 seed I guess, meeting top seed TJ Fabian in the quarters, beating Fabian (Fabian’s only loss) Jamison then loses to Jimmy Leach. Leach goes on to almost beat former state champ (also formerly short of a WC behind 3 other all-state wrestlers) Mark West. Jamison and Fabian wrestle back and meet for 3rd with Fabian winning. Brad Wade who beat Jamison twice FFTs out after getting smacked by West 10-0. But those 5 might all be in the top 8 in the state, and 3 of them are going to States. West, Fabian, and Leach. (in order of competition for Dylan)
Good Luck to all the Section 1 guys, especially, New Ro’s Nick Barbaria!!!!
