Croton’s Occhipinti gets win No. 200

With a 42-33 victory over Pawling on Thursday, Croton-Harmon coach Sam Occhipinti earned his 200th career win as head coach of the Tigers. I asked him to put the milestone into perspective.

“Longevity certainly has its place when reaching milestones,” Occhipinti said. “My hope is that I have been able to make a difference in the lives of my wrestlers over the years. In the end, it is not the wins and losses that actually count, but it’s what you learn about yourself in the long run that makes milestones like this important.”

There are no duals scheduled for today, but I’ll be back tomorrow with my dual meet power rankings.

Congrats Sam! Runs a good program, the numbers aren’t always great but that’s because its a demanding program. A lot of the other athletes in the school can’t hang. You’ll never see his boys tire in the third, and they’re a great group of sportsmen. A measure of a good coach
