5

Here is the press release that I received for this week from the Iowa Style Wrestling club:

NE Duals
Both Penn Gottfried (Ardsley HS) of Columbia and Vincent Grella (Beacon HS) of Binghamton were able to stay in their home state of New York this weekend at Journeymen’s Northeast Duals.
Gottfried lost his first two matches at 125 lbs against Maryland and Rutgers, but was able to pull out a win against Drexel in the third round.
Grella lost against Army and Illinois at 165 lbs.

Mat Town Open at Lock Haven
Brian Realbuto (Somers HS), wrestling for Cornell’s Finger Lakes Wrestling club, dominated his way through the 157 lb weight class, taking first place. Realbuto racked up bonus points in three of his four matches, pinning Matt Stephens of Virginia Tech in the finals.

Dual Meets
Andrew Lenzi (Fordham Prep HS) of Upenn won 10-4 against Michael Martin of No. 3 ranked Oklahoma State, managing to take his opponent down five times during the match.

  1. ChiefWildEagle on

Vince, here is another trivia question for you. In the history of Section 1 who is the only team to win the team title without having at least one individual Section champ?

  2. It’s not the biggest tournaments he’s entered, but I’m curious how Brian Realbuto will be doing next year at Cornell and I’m the future with his tournament dominance so far

  3. wait..I don’t know how I missed this: why is Brian Realbuto not wrestling for Big Red but Finger Lakes wrestling club?? What happened?
