There have been some big moves made in Rockland. The fiercest rivalry in the county just got a bit of a jolt, as Andy Guccione left his position as North Rockland’s head coach to take over as Suffern’s athletic director. Taking over for one of the top coaches in the section will be Jeff Swick, who has been in the Red Raiders’ program for 13 years.
I spoke with Guccione, who said that the opportunity to take an AD job in his hometown was simply too much to pass up on. He leaves behind a team that many (myself included) have pegged as the favorite to win a Division 1 section title in the upcoming season. Swick is fully aware of those expectations, and seemed eager to get to work. He also has a great appreciation for the job that Guccione did at North Rockland, and expressed a desire to continue to build on that.
