There have been some big moves made in Rockland. The fiercest rivalry in the county just got a bit of a jolt, as Andy Guccione left his position as North Rockland’s head coach to take over as Suffern’s athletic director. Taking over for one of the top coaches in the section will be Jeff Swick, who has been in the Red Raiders’ program for 13 years.
I spoke with Guccione, who said that the opportunity to take an AD job in his hometown was simply too much to pass up on. He leaves behind a team that many (myself included) have pegged as the favorite to win a Division 1 section title in the upcoming season. Swick is fully aware of those expectations, and seemed eager to get to work. He also has a great appreciation for the job that Guccione did at North Rockland, and expressed a desire to continue to build on that. For my full story as it appeared in today’s paper, here is the link.

Good luck to Andy Guccione with his futrue as the Suffern AD. With his track record of being a very good leader to the Red Raider wrestling program his leadership will help Suffern athletics excel in all sports. I am glad he got recognized as the section 1 wrestling coach of the year this past season for the great things he has done for North Rockland wrestling.
Congrats to Coach Jefff Swick for becoming the next head coach at North Rockland. Coach Swick is another solid wrestling coach with a great wrestling background. No doubt in my mind that North Rockland wrestling will continue to be one of the finest programs in section one under Coach Swick.
Well put Brenden! Congratulations to both Andy and Jeff on the new jobs! Good luck gentlemen, The Season is right around the corner!!!
