barry got ripped off by the refs. He should have gotten the back points easily. Hopefully they give him wildcard some how.
G Cash Will Win it all
Why are there forfeit1st round
Are first round losers out or due they wrestleback?
I gather Barry lost? Will be hard for wild card with no previous placing
Vince, Can you post the rest of the match scores? These appears to be round one only.
Thanks
Any team scores from today?
wrestleback results?
I saw Barry’s match and felt bad for him…..official seemed to have it out for him. Penalty point, no back points and gave a stall call within 1 minute of match and nothing for the next 2 periods even though the NR kid did nothing. Wrestler from my sons team had a loss the same way. Officiating seems to be getting worse!
The ref had it out for him? That is the most ignorant thing ive ever heard. That particular official happens to be one of the best in the state. Very fair, certainly impartial. Always consitant, and most importantly accurate with his calls.
what happened to carmel 182 guy?
I have to agree with Gable Guy. Match was done properly according to the rules. Yes, I have a problem with some of the rules but the ref did an outstanding job. Don’t think I’m from New Ro either, people who know me will tell that I could be president of the Guccione haters club.
Felt sorry for Barry, but you need more than a headlock to win a championship. Best of Luck to Varian of Yorktown tomorrow.
Officiating was awful all day. Its just not right to the kids who have worked so hard all year to have a ref make terrible calls. Not just the Barry kid (he was robbed) but across the board the refs were terrible.
I’m a hometown Rams fan but you must have seen a different match than me…..the NR wrestler didn’t do one move or score one point on his own. How isn’t that stalling? At this level the winner should be the better wrestler….and a headlock is at least a move, more than what the winner apparently threw. Make them wrestle and let the best represent Section One! Go Kash & Becker!
Justin beat Barry fair and square and when they finished the match Barry took the time to tell him to win the whole thing. Know what you all are talking about.
And Grapevine being self professed Guccione hater- that’s pretty sad dude. He’s a great coach, with over 30 years experience.
Note to section one…..how many coaches are allowed in a corner?
JJCR has about 5 people and New Rochelle’s corner looks like a 3 ring circus. 2 chairs=2 coaches!!!
If the kid didnt do any moves how for he get a takedown in ot? And isnt every 285 match stalling? Stalling is defined as not looking for a takedown in neutral. Does any 285 look for a takedown or is it just tie up, tie up, hope opponent makes a mistake.
Husker, blame the refs. If they would start taking away team pts for more than 2 in a corner, you would see 2 in a corner. Till then Its sec1 … screw the rules
Tusker just because Somers only has 1 coach don’t hate
I guess you weren’t at the match f 285 go unlimited. The Barry kid tried ANOTHER move and seemed to slip down to the mat due to a lot of sweat and exhaustion. Nothing against the NR kid but the official is suppose to make them wrestle and backing up is an automatic stall call in every other weight class but 285. sad. I agree with NR1 that Guccione is a great coach and no disrespect to him either.
Here we go again with the “blame game”......bad refs, too many coaches in corner, etc… I love when this blog turns into the “armchair quarterback” whiners club. Bottom line is unless you have COACHED or OFFICIATED you should try to keep your comments educated. When was the last time MOST here (not all) have been to a practice, learned technique, picked up a rule book? I read somewhere that the Hen Hud 285 went over and congratulated Douglas and told him to win the whole thing. Maybe some of you can learn good sportsmanship from a 17 year old kid. Good luck to all wrestlers involved today….you have all EARNED to be where you are.
