Hmmm, interesting that Nick Engert is seeded 3rd at 106 with such a crap record – definitely an easy field.
Thats a good record, check 195 glad too see they added the new weight.
old skool, that’s a good point!
where is the 4th division ? Somers finally updated the database lol whats the hold up now lol
also look at 113, 145, and this is probably (as far as ind. records) one of the more competitive fields, look at some of the other divisions 3 seeds 10-15 matches under .500
tough spreading things into 4 divisions, if you took the 16 best kids at a weight and split them into 4 different sites you wouldn’t have 16 guys with winning records thats for sure, and these are teams that are split (some of the top 16 wont see sectionals) thats the system we have for now, play it like college football, just keep winning and hope for the best
Just a general comment that, while won/lost record is certainly a primary factor, strength of schedule can be relevant as a secondary factor. In the case of Nick Engert, the combined won/loss record of the folks he lost to was 127-30 ,,, and the folks he beat 38-35 (including a pin of the guy seeded 4th).
Having said that … it does seem clear that none of the highest-ranked 103 wrestlers in the Section are in Division 1. As blogatron points out, that’s what can happen when you split things into 4 Divisions.
Is possible to see the full bracket for each class? Not just the top 4 seeds.
@fls1fan – thanks for the post, i feel slightly ignorant for not thinking of that. My post was meant to be a broad statement about the field in general, and not an attack on FL – or this Nick Engert kid. Did he even wrestle before this year? – lol
Peterson14, It didn’t sound to me like the flsfan was upset at all or felt like you were slighting FL with your post. As you posted that you were making a broad statement, the flfan stated as well that he was making a general comment
