This week’s wrestling notebook features items on Fox Lane coach Joe Amuso reaching his 400th career win, Suffern’s surprising start and a couple of local wrestlers who reached the 100-win plateau. Here is the link.
Today, I’ll be covering a dual meet featuring defending Division 2 champ Nanuet and top Division 1 contender North Rockland. With no tournaments going on this weekend, I wanted to at least get to a quality dual. This matchup features some intriguing individual matches, pitting arguably the top two teams in Rockland county against each other. I fully expect the Red Raiders to prevail, but it will be interesting to see how close the Golden Knights will keep it. I’ll get video from a couple of the key matches, and I’ll also be tweeting throughout @vzmercogliano. There have been internet issues in the gym at North Rockland in the past, but hopefully I’ll still be able to shoot some tweets out.
Here is all of Thursday’s schedule:
Woodlands at Pleasantville, 4:30 p.m.
Nanuet at North Rockland, 4:30 p.m.
Suffern at Nyack, 4:30 p.m.
Pearl River at Clarkstown North, 4:30 p.m.
Clarkstown South at Tappan Zee, 4:30 p.m.
Beacon at Hen Hud, 4:30 p.m.
Arlington at Carmel, 4:30 p.m.
Peekskill at Panas, 4:30 p.m.

I told Coach Amuso it’s great when one accomplishes what he did 400 wins as FLHS wrestling coach. I too was inducted into Aggressive Combat Championships Hall of Fame December 10, 2011 at Danbury, CT Police Athletic wrestling site along with my head coach/trainer 17 year old FLHS wrestler Sam Speno. Coach Amuso has lots to be proud of in his career at his age as I do. Never give up the ship applies here. Check out http://www.usatvtalk.com for more details.
Al,
Who are you? Why would you even consider posting what you are proud of or accomplished. This was written for Coach Amuso and his unbelievable accomplishment of 400 wins.
Maybe I am missing something, if so ,someone please let me know.
To Grappling, I salute Coach Amuso on his status along with his wrestler Sam Speno who has helped me to gain Hall of Fame status.
