For a reminder about what happened at last year’s sectional tournament follow this link.
A few finalists from last year will be facing familiar foes. For Brian Realbuto it won’t be Damon McQueen, who he beat in last year’s championship. McQueen jumped to 119. That leaves Johnson City’s Sean McCormick, the 112 fourth-place finisher, as his biggest challenge. McCormick beat Realbuto 3-2 in the final at Eastern States. McCormick pinned his Section 4 finals opponent in 50 seconds.
Steve Rodrigues and Justis Flamio both lost in the state final but their former foes aren’t the concern. Steven Keith, who beat Flamio, is gone to Harvard. Grant Greene, who beat S-Rod, is at 119. No, their concern is each other. I really wonder how much they’re going to reveal in the wrestling room these next two weeks as they prepare for states together, knowing there’s a great chance they could have to beat the other soon.
Rocky Point’s Stephen Dutton, the kid who beat Andrew Lenzi last year, is up to 140. Lenzi’s got his eye on Cody Ruggirello of Valley Central, who he beat 6-5 at Eastern States. That was Rigirello’s only loss this season against 52 wins.

realbutos toughest challenge will probably be in the semis, if gets past oliveto. mcneil from huttington is a beast, mqueen couldnt beat him thats why he is at 19. if realbuto wins states its almost a mow lock as he will have prob beaten oliveto, mcqueen, and mccormick in 3 strait matches. i personally think he will take 3rd. 4th, 1st, and 3rd not bad for a 10th grader.
