The MOW was who else but Penn Gottfried, Section 1’s first five-time champion. Pleasantville won the team title despite not having a champion. Nanuet had three champs and finished second.

I posted this on the Large School Post as well.
Am hoping to create a friendly debate without people going nuts and attacking the kids or the system.
Which Division 2 Champs would have been Division 1 Champs (in same weight class)?
Since its my subject, I’ll start:
Ryan Osleeb (119lbs)
Chris Graybeal (152lbs)
Ray Wang (160lbs)
Jerrod Saunders (171lbs)
possibly Castro?? (215lbs)
This is not likely to end in a “friendly” debat. Simple put Aslanian(sp) 96lber, Gottfried 119lber, Osleeb 125lber, Wang 160lber are very competitive atheletes. We may debate whether they would win, but can agree they all at least have the abilty to spoil. Example, 1.Jankowski was beaten handedly by Curt Thompson of section II. Osleeb beat Thompson handely this year 2. Warterson lost to Collado twice who was beaten by Gottfried twice 3. Wang beat Genovesi
ryan osleeb vs watterson might be the only good match of the bunch. graybeal would be outclassed by diaz, barry, oddo, rye kid. a healthy genovinci would major wang. saunders would have no chance..he is not talented at all.
you really don’t have a clue. judging by your post, you don’t know anything about wrestling or have been asleep all year. check your facts before making incorrect comments that make you look like a fool.
The refs were terrible in the finals they screwed many kids in the finals especially bernarducci and dagostino. bernarducci clearly had mancusi taken down on the side of the mat and he got no points and he had two at the end of the match. He got screwed by the same ref that screwed over swertfager section one really needs to improve with their refs
bernaducci and dagastino had calls that could have gone either way….judgement calls…the end of bernaducci’s match was not even a call that could have gone either way…maybe if the match was 6 minutes and 2 seconds, it would have been a take down….but at the 6 minute mark, the westlake guy was still in control.
Saunders beat Morra 1-0, Morra lost to Cummings 7-5 during the season, both would compete in 171. D1 is deeper in almost all classes, but in D2 the top 2 would compete and win some. The one thing that is for sure, is will never know. Now to what is real who is going to get wild cards? D1 Flamio, Swertfager, D2 Kar, Telesnick, Morra?
for clarification, they arent “section one” refs. the section is broken down by countys and each official is assigned a “home chapter”. westchester-putnam probably being residence to some of NY’s “finer officials”
Chris Graybeal already beat BOTH D-1 finalists this year. He beat the Rye kid in the semi-finals of the Edgemont Tournament and he pinned Diaz in a dual with North Rockland.
Cummings beat Saunders in the O’Connell finals it was 2-1 til the end when saunders got turned, Cummings won 5-1.
It was a take down and there was even a take down the minute before it. the ref blew it in the 140 match
amoungst all the action that took place this weekend one achievement stood out above all and thats pleasantvilles section championship…edgemont CHEATED earlier in the year by filming matches illegally and say what you want i have done research and its the truth they cheated…just like in football when they illegally went to a camp wearing equipment before they requirment for minimum number of practices…anyway cheating didnt help and they didnt even come close to touching that team title
Anthony Calvano and Greg Caneparo are two of the nicest kids you’ll ever meet and really good wrestlers too! Anthony is a freshman and Greg a Junior. They’re both heading to Albany for the second time! Good luck boys!
Johnny-
Do some more research you are wrong. It is perfectly legal. Congrats on the team championship and congrats to the 3 Edgemont champions.
Jonny Stienbecker,
Show me where in the rule books that taping matches is illegal. If you can do that, you will receive an enormous amount of apologies and regret.
However, you will not be able to produce this as it simply is not in the rule books and is not illegal in any way.
Coach Dichiara and Jacobson are 2 of the most honorable people in the world. They would never knowingly break any rules to give their kids any advantage. That would be exactly the opposite of what they preach on a daily basis.
Again, please show where this is illegal or against the rules.
I just hope that when you do look at the rule book and realize that you are incorrect, you will be just as forthcoming with your apology as you were with your accusation.

Sorry, clicked submit before i finished the note.
Just wanted to say congrats to Pleasantville, Nanuet, and all other competing teams in the Division 2 tournament. While we didn’t see the results we were hoping for last year at Albany, I think the squad we are sending up this year will see some nice success and will represent Section 1 well.
ER
ya pleasantville did win the teen championship. congrats
they however DID NOT HAVE A SINGLE CHAMPION
Edgemont had THREE
this is an individual sport i would trade individual champions for teem points any day
Asdlnf
It is a Team sport, why not ask the Coaches if they would rather lose a match or have a few of their wrestlers win matches. Let alone the Section Championship!! I am sure there is disapointment that they lost their Individual finals, but winning the Championship is about the Team..
Jonny Stienbecker or anyone else …I will speak through the eyes of a Putnam Valley parent—In my 4 years wrestling at the varsity level, Edgemont has always stood out as a team that i hold high respect for. Starting with the coaching staff of Dichiara and Jacobson , the wrestlers and the parents. Those two guys have their team prepared to wrestle and we do not see the nonsense we see from other teams. Mark Mccormick is a class act (i was pulling for ya )and very hard worker and down to earth, just came up a hair short with seconds left. No temper tamtrum like so many others. Hope you make it up to Albany kiddo ,you deserve it, with two years in a row. Spielvogel your handshake to the your winner later after the match did not go unnoticed (Class).
Congrats to Will Carano Does great things with the little he gets. Good luck to all Sect 1 guys
who did Tim Boyle beat in the finals? or lose to
Put Valley = great program and great class.
I just wish they weren’t so far away (from southern westchester—where i live). LOL
AN2
tim boyle walked thru the easiest wieght class in the DII section 135 was cake he, destroyed some kid from pawling i think his name was either porker or porter
No need to knock all the guys in the weight class. Show some class. Good thing for Tim that Cisco Reyes was out with the
injury. That may have put an end to that walk. So you think there was a reason som good guys jumped out of 135, Like Reyes a 2 time finalist in that weight hmmm , food for thought.
hahaha ety…...
