John Jay was the team champ for the first time ever.
A ton of surprises today. S-Rod over Flamio, Speno over Kramer, Parise over Caputo, Stauber over Figueroa, Myer over Panken, and Slane over Swertfager in a controversy.
I’ll be back with details after I file my story.

FOR YOU ALL TO SEE, FINALLY HERE IS THE VIDEO….KUDOS TO THE INVIDIDUAL THAT POSTED IT ON SECTIONONEWRESTLING.COM

HV Resident…I am sorry you are so angry about the Lacrosse Team. I fail to see the connecion, because I am sure the issues are mutually exclusive. We all know what the coaches said and did was wrong. We also know the section championships are really charged. You have hundreds of people watching two young men wrestling for the right to compete in the state championships. Obviousy the people of our section have wanted this sport to excel because more and more keep showing up. The real responsibility is to teach our young wrestlers at home to make sure they know the difference between right and wrong. I am sure Bill and others know. But what I see as equally wrong is the vile comments that have surfaced and the call for blood in firings. So should our course of action be public floggings of the individuals who both acted inappropriate and are looking for blood. Would that settle the anger issues with more violence and anger. I think we need to be reasonable in all accounts. Let time heal the wounds and move on. In conclusion, I am sorry about your lacrosse coach.
As spectator x I would like to congratulate and thank everyone who participated or organized or helped during this section 1 tournament season in a professional manner. We seem to be forgetting the many by ranting about the the few who lost themselves in the moment. Congratulations to another successful season. Good luck in States!
so wheres the stated gonna be?
@ SpectatorX, you start to make some very good points but stop a little short. You say that the real responsibility is to teach our young wrestlers at home to make sure they know the difference between right and wrong but the coaches have an even greater responsibility when it comes to teaching and displaying sportmanship. It sounds as if you would condone the behavor of the likes of Woody Hayes and not hold them accountable for their actions? When should someone START to be held accountable, when the cross the line or come wickedly close to crossing the line?
sal got fired for lesser things.
dibetta 2 yrs ago, swetfeger this year im noticing a pattern. program never learned from their past.
And people say this only happens in Sleepy Hollow…..LOL
The Sleepy Hollow coach never acts like a soar loser.. JJCR needs to lose some coaches to maney = more headaches
Do I have to change my screen name. Use your own name and get off mine
A point that has not been made here is that the refs are trying their best. By no means am I saying that the officiating at the Section tournament was good this year, of course their were plenty of mistakes. BUT THE Refs are TRYING!
Some of these coaches are ridiculous. You cant scream at a ref in one match, “HE’s STALING, HE’s STALING” and then get mad in another match WHEN A REF HITS YOUR KID WITH STALING. What is important to understand here is that refs are watching the match up close and a high speed. While spectators watch the match from a far and probably a better perspective (just visually speaking since most of us watch with a rooting interest).
Refs are going to make bad calls (that is part of every sport). As a coach, I think it is important to stay as positive as possible. By getting on the ref, you are only depressing your athlete and making them feel like they have been jipped (this is going to hinder their performance). If we as coaches encourage the athlete to push through the adversity they are more likely to stay positive and wrestle through it. It is important as coaches that we exemplify sportsmanship.
The best sportsmanship by far this weekend was shown by the referees. They all exercised a lot of restraint by not throwing many people out of the tournament or getting into shouting matches with coaches. Let’s remember these are people too and they are TRYING TO DO THEIR BEST.
@Just A Fan-I apologize, I was not trying to ghost you. It was an honest mistake using your blog name.
soo…. where are the states gonna be and when?
