A weighty six champions for North Rockland, which won for the third time in four years.
I plucked this passage from her story:
The match of the day went to Dan Pragdat of Clarkstown South in the 145-pound final against Suffern’s Vinny Giella.
With the score tied 3-3 late in the match, Pragdat escaped to get the decision. He was up 3-1 going into the third period.
“I’m a junior and in the three years of working so hard for that title I said, ‘It’s two minutes away, simple as that,” Pragdat said. “Even though I let him get the reversal, I said, ‘You know what? The score’s tied and I’m still in control of the match. This is probably the greatest win I’ve ever had in my life.”

at 285 Emsworth pinned Matos at 3:20.
alright i have to disagree withthe match of the day i have to go with cummings vs. coyne. the 171 weight class was shaken up by a dominant win over cummings by coyne. 8-3 where coyne controlled the match the entire time.
I agree with wrestling fan pragdat giella not that exciting
What was the best match
what was fields thinking when he got in oliveto’s face. i liked how after that oliveto taught him a lesson.
The Pragdat match was boring, boring, boring. Only someone who does not follow the sport of wrestling would think that was the match of the night. The Atrip-Morato match had a lot of fire and even the Caneparo-Maniscalco match was more interesting. I think the officials got too involved with Fields and Oliveto. It was a physical match, not dirty at all. Oliveto pushed Fields around and Fields just stood his ground at one point but he was beaten by a wrestler who is on a different level. Cummings looked shot in the 3rd period and Coyne kept the pressure on, simple as that. But overall, in my many years following the tournament, these were fairly mundane matches and the least exciting finals in quite a while.
Coyle. LOL.
