96 Speno was dominated 96, Srednicki very tough 135 Davidson very tough Manley probably shouldn’t of been in finals saw semi match vs Sleepy kid and sleepy kid wasn’t given points for takedown like twice was terrible officiating overall. I think Fox Lane would of won if Rodrigues & Speno wrestled. Overall Officiating wasn’t great at all but some showing from some guy’s that are starting to make a name for themselves.
anyone think Planamento was sick or something was wrong with him i thought he didnt look that good against Realbuto or Speno. Also Flamios win over Rose and Davidsons win over Manley was very impressive

I agree Planamento didn’t look good but I gotta give that credit to Speno looking good. Also Davidson was also imressive. Manley I thought got some good calls in the Semi Finals.
section 1 w/some sense
i think Speno made it easy for Planamento to look bad, however the kid’s hand was bothering him throughout the Realbuto match, but Speno looked great and i was dumb and thought he would lose in the semi’s to little davidson i think.
Good job Ossining almost pulled it out, better job Carmel staff, they had all their kids giving everything they had

Elmer totally agree D2 can’t hang with D1 and I do agree that Martinez(SH) got screwed royally in semis vs Manley.
question??
if planamento broke his finger isnt he out for the year?
give me a brake
A 7-5 victory sounds a little less then a domination. Furthermore no one should be judged on one match alone, win or lose. As for D1 and D2 its a tired old argument. For those who love wrestling be happy in the fact that a young man like Penn Gottfried has enjoyed what the sport has to offer. At the very least those like him will leave the sport as a fan. Without them wrestling would not continue. The support of those few “elite” wrestlers will never keep the sport healthy.
???
No word yet on planamento’s finger. Only thing someone mentioned from the tournament was that he was in noticeable pain of the same wrist he broke and was not wrestling to his potential hed shown the last few weeks.

119….maybe. That match already happened at the Rye tournament. Many believe if it wasnt for poor officiating last years D2 112 champ would have rightfully beat last years D1 112 champ(both going 119 this year, neither guaranteed, like everyone else to win this year). Still. There are MANY states with MORE divisions than New York and much LESS population. Perhaps we need more divisions??? ???....”?” nevertheless I understand your pain….....
agreed
“give me a brake”, but dont those division state champs wrestle in a “super states” type tournament to determine a champ of champions. d1 and d2 never wrestle in ny. In an ideal world id like to see top 3 from each section get into a 32 man bracket at states and top 5 from d 1 and top 3 in d2 states wrestle in a champ of champs tourney. In these hard times that wont ever happen I know, but “I have a dream that one day all wrestlers will be created equal”
give me a brake
“agreed”
I know of know “super states” that put one divisional state champ against another during the season. Certianly many of those young men compete in out of season national tournaments. NJ and California are two large states with only one division. While I cant speak for everyone, many in NJ wish there was more than 1 division…why…overall its better for the sport..more involved and with more able to compete more people become interested in the sport! Thats good for the overall health of the sport. At states you see some weight classes better in D2 than D1,some equevlant and some D1 better than D2. The majority are top 5% in their ability.
agreed
I know north of albany d2 is the same or better than d1 in some areas. section 7 doesnt even have d1. south of albany d2 is bad in fact section 1 has the best d2 team, technically. john glenn on long island is the number one team on the island and they are a small school. The catch with them is that they wrestle d1 instead of d2. 2 years ago they had 15- 20 kids in the section finals at d2. They realized the system was a joke and went d1 the next 2 years and now are the best. wrestlers know to be the best you have to beat the best.
