You know that poll I created this week, the one asking who would finish second to Fox Lane at Super 16? Can I admit something? When I first put it out, I didn’t include Carmel as one of the options. Not because I think Carmel stinks or anything. It’s just that as I scanned the tournament teams, I somehow skipped over Carmel. Subconsciously I guess the Rams didn’t register as a contender. And most of you agreed. Even after I went back and added them a few minutes later, they only finished fourth in the voting.
Most of you can figure out where I’m going with this. Carmel didn’t just finish second today in its home gym, it won the whole thing. Count me among the surprised. It was the first time in at least 20 years for Carmel.
If that wasn’t enough, can you believe it happened without Mike Rose, Carmel’s top dog, winning a title? Rose dropped a much-anticipated 125 final to Mahopac’s Justis Flamio, who bumped up today specifically so he could face Rose. Instead it was Alex Othmer (215) and Kevin Davidson (135) carrying the flag. Othmer pinned his guy in 33 seconds.
Meanwhile, not only did Fox Lane not win, it finished fifth. The absence of Steven Rodrigues and Luke Speno really hurt. Still, the Foxes had more titles than anyone else: Sam Speno decisioned Andrew Planamento in a quality 96, Joey Grippi predictably took 130, and Pat Fay came through at 119.
Mike Dougherty had the story, which I’ll link to tomorrow. I added the consi finals at the bottom of this post. They’re in a different format than the rest of the results, but it’s 12:42 a.m. and I’m too tired to change it.

wow how impressive has matinez from sleepy been? did anyone know he was this gud of a wrestler. hes hasnt really been noticed because sleepy goes to alot of weak tournaments but wow he went into overtime with manly i honestly didnt even think he was on the same level as manly i guess i was wrong.
seams like Vespa got revenge on swertfager.
Gathering that was not M-W full “A” squad…with expection of Vespa I think, prob like “just me” says to get revenge
M Vespa is an excellant wrestler as is M Swertfager. Getting pinned can be the product of “getting caught” . M Vespa has always been a big move wrestler. While I was not there I heard the match was very close until M Swertfager “got caught”. In any case, they are now 1 and 1 in facing each other. As such bragging rights,if needed, are not owned by either wrestler.
Was Dylan Realbuto throwing a fit after losing in the semifinals?
who was the MOW ?
are there full brackets to super 16 newhere?
No lil Realbuto took his L like a man unlike most of your silver spoon feed brats at JJCR who run off the mat crying cus daddy can’t buy them the W than break things in locker room a spit blood luggies on the gym flour. So please JJCR lover take a look at your own team before you criticize a 13 year old boy who works his a@# off.
JJCR Hater….I loved your response, JJCR wrestlers and coaches think who the heck they are
