Well, after a long day I’m about to hit the sack. But first, here are the results from the Tiger Tournament today. Obviously I wasn’t there, because as many times as I’ve tried to make it happen with my mind, I can’t be at two places at once. So for anyone who was there, I’d love to hear some thoughts on the action.

woodlands tourney results?
Eric,
Did you know about the Woodlands Tournament ? I buy the paper to read about all tournaments that happend that weekend. If your paper can not cover all high school events I will stop buying the paper and get my info from sectiononewrestling.com for free ….............
Wrestling Parent – yes I know about the Woodlands tournament. Obviously, we don’t have a reporter at every high school event, but typically the host coach calls in the results. I wasn’t in the office yesterday obviously, but if no one called in that’s why we didn’t have it in the paper. I will make some phone calls tonight to try to get those results. If I do, I will immediately post them.
Coverage this morning was GREAT. The number of comments says alot. Keep up the good work. Nothing better than a cup of coffee and some great coverage from the day before
I know this goes back more than a week now but I would love to see the full results of the Rye tournament posted here. I don’t think it ever made the paper.
When you want to know whats going on with HS wrestling go to http://www.sectiononewrestling.com and see Tony P posts in the forum. With all due respect Eric just isn’t going to cut this year, to much to learn….
I’m sorry you feel that way. It doesn’t seem everyone agrees with you, but I do realize that it will take some time for me to get as familiar with these wrestlers as I was with athletes on my previous beats. Just know I’m giving you 100%.
Why don’t you all relax a little bit. Eric is doing what he can and we appreciate it. Tony had this down to a science and we couldn’t ask for anyone better than him. But it is not Eric who let him go, but Eric is who we have now. I personally appreciate you steping up and trying to fill the big shoes of Tony P your doing fine and keep up the good work. Keep in mind this is for our benefit and Eric does not have to do this. If you don’t like what he is providing than get your information from somewhere else and stop posting here.
where are the resulta for the beacon tourney and the section finals, cmon guys i wanna see whos representing us in states, ugh just terrible coverage
Eric,
Did you find the results from 119 surprising? Remember when I said Fay would surprise a lot of people? I think he could be a contender for the 119 lb weight class.
Couple of things – first of all, I spoke to Woodlands coach Jason Parker tonight, and he didn’t have the results with him, but he did say he would e-mail them, and as soon as I have them they’ll be up on the blog. As far as the Beacon tournament, I’ve been out of the office most of the weekend, and when I have been there, rest assured I’ve been trying to track down as many results as possible. Once again, I understand people’s frustration at some of the changes at the newspaper, but we did cover two meets this weekend, we also sent a columnist, a photograhper and someone to film the Mamaroneck tournament live. Lastly, Indian 1 – I really appreciate the support. Once again, I totally agree with everyone who has said Tony did a great job. He did. I also know, that as a reporter, I can’t make everyone happy. But I’ll keep trying!
Now….let’s get back to wrestling….thoughts on the dual meet semis and finals on Tuesday?
And – to The Man – Pat Fay seems poised for a big season. His results have been outstanding and I agree that he’s a contender at 119.
Eric, with no disrespect meant unless you are working for free many of us cannot understand the logic of replacing Tony with someone less experienced. What is the rational of trying to spend all this money to duplicate Tony’s coverage when they could simply have not let him go. Yes we know you are trying but as you said you simply do not the connections and loyalty that Tony had. Tony, who now writes a competing column on http://www.sectiononewrestling.com was phenomenally right on some of his Tiger predictions something that will take you years to do.
The frustration has nothing to do with you but with your parent company Unfortunately you are the recipient of that frustration. Many of us want to send a loud and clear message to LoHud, do not expect us to have a warm spot in our hearts for this newspaper when you fail to hear what your readers are saying.
With all due respect to you, please don’t comment on things you don’t have all the facts about. I did not “replace” Tony. I was already at the newspaper a year and a half when the decision to make cuts was made. Our staff was recently reduced – people weren’t replaced. I think what some people aren’t getting is that this situation has been difficult on everyone. Tony is a good friend of mine, as were the other people who were let go. I completely understand your frustration, and you have every right to voice it. But this blog is not the place. There are many other ways of getting your point across without taking away from what this blog is for, and that’s high school wrestling. With that said, I will not entertain this discussion anymore. I totally understand what people are feeling, you have every right to feel it. But this blog is for wrestling discussion.
Im sorry but this is getting rediculous now, Tony is gone he was very good, but he is gone. Its time to get over it people Eric had great coverage of two big tournaments this weekend. I thank you for the effort that you have put out to give us the results and the live video of the tiger tourny. Its a wrestling blog people its time to stop talking about tony and focus on wrestling please…
keep up the goodwork Eric you have my support.
Eric,
You no longer have to apolagize to anyone for doing your job. Ignore the quotes. Tony is a great guy. Tony is no longer here. If people have a problem with that please send your emails to the sports editor. Otherwise, let Eric do his job.
I mean this with no dis-respect to Tony but there were 586K other people laid off in November. The resession hits everyone. including the journal news.
FL did great at lower weights, but they are in trouble
outside of tourneys due to inexperience at upper weights.
They need a boost from Rudea and Fallon to overcome that.

Eric:
You did a fantastic job this weekend. Coverage at both tournaments, seeds and previews on the blog, a live web feed at Mamaroneck and a couple of articles in the morning paper. What Eric lacks in experience, he is making up in effort. Nice job! Remember guys, TonyP is a guy that cannot be replaced. However, it seems like Eric is focused on putting in the time that our student-athletes definitely deserve! Keep up the good work!
where was Rueda how did he do? or did he just not place?
rueda was out
reh, Beacon tournament is january 24 th if eric has results for those now id be really impressed, and sectionals are in late Frebuary.
is he injured?
What i was most interested with in this tournament was the Speno-Ramos match up, with Speno coming out on top late in the third. A question i have for you Eric is if you have heard anything about Brundage from Ossining coming down to 152, if that is just a rumor or a plan of his after the 2 pounds we receive in January? if it is true what a weight class 152 is going to be, looks like i better start cutting for 145. haha
Lowsingle – thank you very much for your kind remarks – Hola – I couldn’t figure out what Reh meant about sectionals either. I thought he might have been talking about something else, because obviously Section 1 sectionals, like in every other sport, come at the end of the season. EC – I have heard the same rumor, but I cannot confirm it as of yet. What I can do is make a couple of calls this week and see what I can find out.
Yeah i am sure its just a rumor, nothing big to make of it. It is becoming a blog about wrestling again so thank you again for your time and effort Eric.
Will we see Speno at 145, Ramos at 152, and Brundage at 160 ?
That would be good for sec1 at states
cya !1
Speno should stick to 152, but I think the only one to make some noise at states will be Brundage who placed 3rd at that weight class last season. Ramos will NOT make noise at states, if he even gets there
you lost me is he hurt or not?
meaning rueda
not sure i just know he didn’t wrestle… why so interested the man?
im meant to say “yeah” instead of the man
